Computer Science and Engineering:
Computer Science engineering deals with design,
implementation, and management of information system of both software &
hardware processes. A computer scientist specializes in theory of computation
and design of computational systems.
The program is designed such that a student can complete it
based on advanced coursework alone. However, the students are given the option
to concentrate on a problem by substituting some of the courses with equivalent
project work.
The first semester of the M.Tech program is aimed at
providing the necessary breadth in Computer Science and at integrating the
students with the instructional philosophy of IIIT Hyderabad. The subsequent
semesters aim at providing avenues for specializing in one or more streams
within computer science.
Career Opportunities:
Job opportunities are available in Government as well as
Private sector. Salary specs depends a lot on factors like- quality of the
Institute from which the course has been pursued, Grades attained in academic
session, aptitude etc. Generally, starting salary is between 4-6 Lakh Rupees

Placements:
If you keep your academic score above 60% overall, you can
expect to get placed, at least if you’re from the CS or IS departments. On the
whole, only a few companies visit the campus for recruitments and most students
have to rely on pool-campuses wherein a company comes to more reputed colleges
and you have to go to that college at the prescribed time. Ultimately it’s upon
the students’ calibre and the college puts in little efforts.
About 30-40% of the students get placed with little
recruitment in Civil and Mechanical departments.
Placements are likely to hike up in coming years due the
recent appointment of new TPO.
